Sarpy County Congratulates Union Omaha on Next Stage of Success

Sarpy County is proud to have been a leader in establishing professional soccer in our community and is excited to see Union Omaha’s long-term vision move forward nearly four years since the public-private partnership kicked off at Werner Park.

"As Union Omaha’s leadership expressed from the start, playing in a soccer-specific stadium marks a significant step in the team’s growth, and as a community partner, we’re excited for them to move toward that goal,” said Angi Burmeister, Sarpy County Board Chair. “We're proud that Werner Park was the first home to professional soccer in our community, and we're glad that fans got to experience Sarpy County during Union Omaha's first four seasons. While baseball is Werner Park’s main attraction, we’ll always cheer for Union Omaha and wish the club continued success.”

Werner Park is home to the Omaha Storm Chasers, the Triple-A Affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. Built in 2011, the stadium has more than 6,300 seats, luxury suites, hospitality tents, boardroom space, and a total capacity of 9,023. Sarpy County owns the facility, which is operated by the Omaha Storm Chasers Baseball Club.

In addition to Storm Chasers Baseball games, Werner Park provides an outdoor venue for corporate events, concerts, charity walks and more.

Union Omaha kicked off its inaugural season at Werner Park in Sarpy County in 2020.
