How Sarpy County Served Our Community in 2023

A MESSAGE FROM THE SARPY COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS:

Sarpy’s growth story continued to stretch into 2023. The seeds of the board’s vision have not just sprouted – our community is now benefiting from several years-long projects that are now fully realized. In the 2023 annual report, we cover these major county initiatives.

The phased CONNECTSarpy – West Sarpy project, which kicked off in 2020, is complete – and under budget. The traveling public now has 9-square-miles of brand new and improved roads to get to their homes, work, schools and favorite neighborhood businesses.

The new state-of-the-art correctional center is operational, replacing the more than 30-year-old facility that could no longer fully serve the county’s needs.

We’ve also selected the leader of the jail’s psychiatry fellowship program. Dr. Kimberly Clawson will lead the fellowship to treat inmates with mental health issues and create a pipeline of psychiatric experts. Meet her on Page 4.

These aren’t the only leaps forward in the county. We continue to reinvest in critical infrastructure, including sewer in south Sarpy that will open up an underserved area to significant economic development. We're focused on mental health solutions and reducing recidivism. And we continue to deliver essential, everyday county services that you rely on. We consider it our job to invest in public services that make our home a great place to live. We're able to do that thanks to the hard work of Sarpy employees and want to specifically thank outgoing County Administrator Dan Hoins for all his invaluable efforts on these projects.

You. Your families. Local business owners. Our teachers and first responders. County residents are at the center of every decision we make, and we’re proud to serve our community with forward-thinking ideas, careful planning and conservative budgeting.

Thank you for trusting us. We invite you to click the image below to look through our annual report and learn more about how Sarpy County is serving you.
