Tool available to help calculate income tax credit for school district taxes paid

NE Department of Revenue

Nebraska Tax Commissioner Tony Fulton reminds income tax filers as they prepare their Individual Tax returns for 2021 that Nebraskans will be able to claim a refundable income tax credit of 25.3% of qualified school district taxes paid because of LB1107.

Taxpayers can claim this credit by filing the Nebraska Property Tax Incentive Act Credit Computation, Form PTC, with their income tax or franchise tax returns. It is simple to claim by going to the Nebraska Department of Revenue website here and using the “Nebraska School District Property Tax Look-Up Tool.” This tool is now ready to use when preparing your tax return. You can find your Sarpy County property's parcel number using our property search tool

Every Nebraska taxpayer that paid qualified school district property taxes can claim a refundable income tax credit or franchise tax credit (credit) when filing a 2021 tax return. This credit is in addition to the Real Property Tax Credit that is applied directly to property tax statements received from local county treasurers each December.
